Gil had a stressful career and was going through a major divorce that started to effect is health; he knew he needed to make some drastic changes.
In 2005 Gil decided to bring in a new lifestyle of yoga, meditation and healthy foods, playing around in the kitchen with different recipes and juicing; he soon realized that in order to make the necessary changes he would need to get some training and education.
Gil started taking raw food classes, workshops and spending time with his family making vegan & raw dishes. He discovered that the energy around him, his attitude at his daily corporate world and communications with his sons was moving to a new frequency. Gil was starting to see that his anxiety and stress was disappearing and he felt better than he had in years.
His older son, Rotem, started asking him for a green juice for breakfast because he saw a difference in his school & basketball workouts. He said to Gil, “Dad I have so much more energy when I drink the juice in the am before school.” That was when Gil realized he was on to something and really wanted to share his knowledge with families around the world.
As a way to share his knowledge and passion for healthy foods with families around the world, Perky Fruit Bodies was born.
Gil earned his Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition by T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies.Completed April, 2015
Rotem’s life motto is first God , second Family, and then Basketball. He learned from his childhood that attitude in a player is one of the most important things to carry on …" Life is 10% of what happens to you, and 90% attitude- meaning what you make of it".
What makes him different than any other athlete is his belief in being mentally tough which is the most important thing to succeed in basketball and life. He enjoys taking challenges and putting in the work. I have a strong personality and I take the initiative to lead the game. Mistakes are part of the game and even when I make them and made aware of them by my coaches I still move on and never complain. I work hard to keep my grades and make sure I do well academically as well as on the court. Achievements come when you work hard, there are no shortcuts. I was inspired by reading the book "Sacred Hoops" By Phil Jackson, it added to my mental game because before every game I would meditate and visualize how I would play.
"To be a great athlete you have to have a healthy body and mind." Together with his father he knew that Perky Fruit Bodies would be a wonderful way to support his philosophy of living and a great way to spend time with his father; building a future to bright future.
